I listen to encounteringpeace.app every day for meditation on scripture. During my meditation this past Thursday, one of the scriptures was Luke 9:23-24. After meditation I pray. I pray for my children and their families; I pray for my neighbors, and my boss; I pray for my husband and best friends, and for the world that it will look up, realize who God is and glorify Him. For myself, I pray that God continues to help me tear down the strongholds that have built up over my 60 years that make certain aspects of life difficult.
Nothing fancy, just stuff that concerns me. One of boys lives far away from me, in Murfreesboro, Tennessee.
Later in the morning I was listening to devotions posted by my church here in Pittsburgh. The topic of those devotionals this week was “Does God Speak to Us?”
I was busying about my morning, so just letting YouTube scroll through. After my church’s devotions, Pastor Allen Jackson’s “Have We Forgotten God” message came on. It is excellent, full of truths that the country needs to hear, expressed with love and humor, masterfully done. (Later on in his sermon, he mentioned the Luke 9:23 scripture.) After a few minutes, I stopped what I was doing to see where Pastor was from. I hadn’t heard of him before. He’s from Murfreesboro, Tennessee.
